JVNY Chamber Music Workshop in Valmorel, France

Courchevel Workshop Information

JVNY's intensive string and piano workshop, "Rencontres Musicales Internationales a Courchevel" will be held this summer from July 12th to July 26th, 2015.  Located in the heart of the French Alps, this course provides advanced students with an opportunity to study intensively with international faculty in an inspiring setting, and to perform regularly in masterclasses and concerts.

Housing:
The festival takes place in Courchevel 1850, an exclusive ski resort situated in the Savoie region of France.  Students are housed in the Mercure Courchevel 1850 hotel  just a few steps from the world famous ski slopes.  The hotel boasts a heated outdoor pool, quality dining emphasizing the specialties of the region of Savoie, ample rehearsal space and a large concert hall.  Students will be paired into double rooms unless they request a single room.  An extra charge of 630 Euros per applicant will be applied for single rooms.   The highest level of respect for the premises is expected of all festival participants. A key deposit of 30 Euros per student will be required from festival participants upon arrival. The deposit will be refunded at the end of the festival unless heavy cleaning is required.

Meals:
Meals are taken communally in the hotel restaurant.  Specialties of the region will be served along with traditional cuisine.  Weather permitting, lunch will be taken in the open air on the poolside terrace overlooking the panoramic view of the Saulire mountain.   Festival participants should alert the office about any dietary restrictions and/or allergies.

Travel to Festival:

Festival participants should book their flights to arrive at the Geneva-Cointrin airport by the morning of Sunday, July 12th, and must communicate their travel plans and itineraries to the New York office.  A festival shuttle bus will pick up students at the airport on the arrival day by 11AM, or once all the flights have arrived. The pickup time is based on the arrivals information provided by the festival participants, but should preferably not be later than 12 noon. The meeting point is the Montreux Jazz Cafe in the arrivals section of the Geneva airport. Students and families who prefer to arrive to Courchevel independently should communicate their plans to the office.  Festival organizers may not be held responsible for transporation to the festival due to missed or delayed flights.

The departure day is Sunday, July 26th at which point a festival shuttle bus will bring students back to the Geneva airport.  Departure flight times should be no earlier than 11AM to allow sufficient time for transportation to the airport.  Festival participants who make travel arrangements outside of this time frame will be responsible for the cost of their travel to and from the airport.
