JVNY Chamber Music Workshop in Valmorel, France

About JVNY

"Jeunes Virtuoses de New York" (JVNY) is an ensemble of exceptionally accomplished young musicians who perform on both sides of the Atlantic both as a string camerata, and in various chamber music configurations. JVNY offers its young musicians unique and inspiring artistic and mentoring experiences through programs that elevate their musicianship, intellect, confidence and human and cultural awareness. Members of JNVY have been winners of several national and international competitions, and have appeared as soloists with numerous professional orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, the Mainzer Kammerorchester and the China National Broadcast Symphony Orchestra. Many JVNY have developed into some of the most exquisite young professionals in the field, and others have continued their love of music while attending such prestigious universities as Harvard, Columbia, and Princeton. Whether through our outreach projects which bring the performing arts to audiences who would otherwise not have access, or through the mentoring program in which JVNY pass on their gifts to younger musicians through chamber music coaching and teaching, or through collaborative projects enabling JVNY to experience performing with some of the leading musicians in New York, JVNY programs serve as a model for excellence and achievement for young musicians, as well as for their audiences around the world. This outstanding group represents New York’s rich and diverse cultural environment. These dynamic musicians stand for what is best about our city – a mosaic of native New Yorkers uniting with recent arrivals to our city to create a stunning musical ensemble through unparalleled exuberant artistry. At home, they perform in venues across New York, and abroad they are ambassadors, spreading the message that New York is a vibrant cultural capital of the world.

JVNY originated in 2007 when violinist, Arik Braude, was invited to bring a selected group of his students to perform as a string camerata in France as a part of the Fetes Musicales de Savoie chamber music concert series. The outstanding success of these concerts with the French audiences led the project to evolve into a yearly residency and workshop, featuring this ensemble of exceptional young string players. Since then, "Jeunes Virtuoses de New York" has evolved into a unique and stunning ensemble, performing conductorless in numerous concert venues in the United States and France, and collaborating with leading professional musicians in France, Germany, and Belgium, as well as in their hometown of New York.
