JVNY Workshop in Valmorel, France

The JVNY workshop is situated in Valmorel in the Savoie region of France. This year's JVNY workshop (2011) will run from August 4th to August 12th, just after the junior workshop which will take place from July 25th to August 4th. JVNY concerts will take place on August 6th, 8th, and 9th in the Savoie region of France, and on August 10th at "Le Petit Palais" in Paris. The workshop provides a unique opportunity for a selected group of young artists to travel to one of the most spectacular regions in the world, and to experience professional concertizing life in this inspiring setting. Concerts take place in exquisite venues, giving American students unique exposure to the baroque and renaissance architecture that parallels some of the music they perform.

At the core of the JVNY workshop is a series of professional concert engagements both in Val Morel and throughout the Savoie region, which are a part of "Fêtes musicales de Savoie" (www.fetesmusicalesdesavoie.com). This workshop provides young artists with a unique opportunity to experience concertizing life through rigorous and inspiring preparation of these concerts. Under the guidance of the artistic director and the workshop faculty, workshop participants experience all the stages of concert preparation, in a musically rich and stimulating environment. Individual creativity, as well artistic interaction amonst the young musicians is fostered, as the group strives together to create exceptional performances.
